Transmutation

The largest canvas of the foundational archive, painted over several months in a studio where the walls were still covered with basketball drawings. Transmutation holds the moment a discipline turns into a language: the gestures of an athlete becoming the gestures of a painter. Layers of acrylic are opened with spray paint, then closed again, so that the surface keeps every decision instead of hiding it. Seen from a distance the composition reads as a single body of movement; up close it becomes a record of pressure, breath and repetition. It remains the reference point for everything the practice has built since.
