Euphoria

Euphoria began as a study of light inside a crowd. The painting keeps the instant just before recognition, when a shared space becomes a collective feeling and individual faces dissolve into one atmosphere. Warm passages are pushed against cooler fields until the surface holds a temperature rather than a subject. It is the work that opened the practice toward public and participatory experiences: the canvas could no longer contain the scale of what it was describing.
